Giving the Gift of Reading!

Remember purchasing books from the Scholastic book order forms? Well, students are still receiving these! Over the past several years, however, second grade teacher Mrs. Adair noticed that not many students were placing orders. She decided to do something about it!

This year every student in Mrs. Adair’s class will receive 9 free books from Scholastic. The books are paid for by sponsors; each student in the class has a sponsor who is generously giving the gift of a new book each month! By the end of the year, students will have their own collection of books.

Mrs. Hoke’s second grade class and Mrs. Smith’s first grade class will be receiving books from sponsors as well!

Another teacher who is giving the gift of reading is Ms. Gilbert. As a way to honor her grandmother, Mary Russell McReynolds, Ms. Gilbert has started to donate books to the Hambright library. As a librarian, her grandmother had a passion of literacy, so donating books is a fitting tribute.

Thank you Mrs. Adair, Mrs. Hoke, Mrs. Smith, and Ms. Gilbert!
