Evacuation Drill/Fire Drill

Each month Hambright Elementary School practices their Evacuation/Fire Drill.  We call all of our drills evacuation drills because we believe that learning to evacuate the building in the safest manner is very important.  This year, we have practiced evacuating the building during different times and during different activities.  We used the end of two All School Openings to practice evacuating during an assembly.  Today I read the following to the students and staff for our drill:

“Today we are going to be practicing our monthly evacuation drill.  This is a reminder that it is just a drill to help us get out of the building as quickly and quietly as possible.  In the event of a real emergency it is important that you are quiet so you and your teachers can listen to any directions that are being given.  Because we never know what emergency situation may occur, we are going to be practicing different ways to exit the building.  Today we are going to practice exiting the building, but we are not able to use the exits at the end of 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 wings.  We will all meet on the playground.  Remember this is just a drill, but it is very important that you listen to your teachers and exit as quickly and quietly as possible.  At this time please evacuate the building.”

We take the safety and security of our school very seriously and we wanted to make you aware of how we do that here at school.  Thank you for allowing us to teach your children.
