PTO Meeting 10/3/2016
FIRST THINGS FIRST
Everyone in attendance introduced themselves. Mr. Howe gave his principal’s report. He
briefly explained the new schedule that Elementary schools adopted this year. There is a four
day schedule which includes a 45 minute special each day. Math was extended by 30 minutes
and there is an EI time that was implemented. The new schedule allows for grade level
teachers to have common planning time. Hambright also added three new classrooms this
year in 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade.
Jen Seiger and Michele Stern presented the Treasure’s report. There was a new format for
the budget and the budget included an increase in funds for classrooms teachers and field
trips. The budget was approved.
It was mentioned that we have a new PTO email address. The email people should use to
contact the board is email@example.com.
PTO meetings for the 2016-2017 school year:
Mondays 11/7, 1/9, 3/6, 4/10. All meetings begin at 6:30pm and are held in the library.
SYNERGIZE SESSION/COMMITTEE REPORTS/EVENTS
Volunteer Clearances- The new guidelines for volunteers getting their clearances were
discussed. If you are planning on helping out at any PTO events, you need to complete a
volunteer packet and submit your clearances. Clearances are required for all field trips. The
clearances are good for 5 years.
Bus Driver Appreciation– Michele Stern will take charge of this event and will welcome
anyone else who would like to help. Cards will be made and sent to the drivers with a gift
6th Grade Leader Committee- New 6th graders were chosen to help the PTO out throughout
the year. They will organize spirit days, collect box tops, and help with Race day among other
Rita’s Night–We had a great night at Ritas with 258 Hambright Leaders attending with their
Kid stuff books– We did a cash and carry event at Meet the Teacher Night. There are still
some available to be sold this evening. Around 30 books have been sold.
Sub Sale– Lori Jackson and Amy Donaldson will be in charge of the sale this year. It will take
place on 11/9, the night of evening conferences. Help is need to hand out the subs on that
dat. Order forms will be due on 10/26.
Bingo Family Night- Jen Seiger and Courtney Barry will be in charge of Bingo night this year on
10/28. Volunteers are needed to help serve the food. Food will be served starting at 6pm and
bingo will be 6:30-7:30pm. There will be a variety of prizes including prizes from teachers.
Holiday Shoppe– Kendra Huber will run the Holiday Shoppe on 12/15, the same night as the
Holiday concert at Hambright. All money made at this event will be donated to PM Cares.
Race for Education- Jen Seiger and Tracy Stevens will organize the race again this year. They
are looking for people to shadow them this year so they will be prepared to take the race over
next year. Many volunteers will be needed to make this day successful. The race will be held
on May 5th.
Teacher Appreciation– Heather Hufford will organize this committee. Sign ups went out to the
school and some volunteers have signed up. They provided desserts in the faculty room last
week and will provide a luncheon for the teachers during conferences.
Box Tops– Shannon Hanna will collect, trim and count the box tops this year. Prizes will be
given to classes that reach certain amounts. So far about 2,500 box tops have been collected.
Yearbook– We will be using the same company again this year. The Race will be included in
the yearbooks and they will stay about the same price as last year. People are encouraged to
take pictures and submit them for the yearbook committee to use. Volunteers are needed to
be on this committee.
