Aevidum and TeenHope held a 5K run to raise awareness of mental health issues in schools throughout Lancaster County in a very colorful way.

The ColorBlast 5K was held on Sept. 21 at Manor Middle School. The noncompetitive event had participants of all age groups of runners, who were blasted with brightly colored cornstarch powder. Hambright staff members, pictured above from left to right, are Kathy Rowley, Jennifer Seiger, Deb DeBerdine, Beth Martin, Tracy Stevens, and Jerry Egan.

ColorBlast proceeds benefit the Aevidum student organization and TeenHope, a program that screens students for depression and suicide risk. Aevidum, with chapters at Penn Manor High School and Manor and Marticville middle schools, creates an environment in which students feel supported and are encouraged to talk about depression and mental illness.

The ultimate goal of both organizations is to prevent suicides.
